"I'm Going Home"
I listened to the first disc of The BBC Radio Sessions yester-day and realized that the musical resolution at the end of "I'm Going Home" provides a sort of fulfillment of the title line.

"I'm Going Home"

The first session for the Begin Here album (when the Zombies recorded "I'm Going Home," "Sticks and Stones," and "Road Runner") was fifty-one years ago to-day, so I have a bunch of songs to record new versions of and hopefully learn new parts to. The second Begin Here session (seven more songs) was fifty-one years ago to-morrow, so I'll be doing this daily for a week and a half.
I picked "I'm Going Home" to do first (even though it wasn't on the album) because, of the three songs recorded during this session, I know the most parts for it. The last time I recorded this was in August last year, so it's been awhile, and I had a lot I had to re-acquaint myself with. Thankfully, I'd written out about a third of the bass part (in notation even!), so I didn't have to work so hard on that.
I learned a bit more of the bass part, but I'm still stuck on the part during the last section (the chords are the same as the earlier sections, so I played the bass part from the earlier sections). I also cleaned up a phrase in the guitar part. I think it starts with Es an octave apart and then alternates between progressively lower notes and that high E where earlier I'd started with a fourth (E to A) and then alternated with that A note. I learned a bit of the organ part too, but I learned just the parts where the organ doubles the guitar part (or vice versa), so it's not that much progress.

Saturday Club

I totally forgot to include the BBC broadcasts in my posts about "fifty years ago to-day in Zombie history."
According to the liner notes for Zombie Heaven, the Zombies were on Saturday Club fifty years ago to-day (6 February 1965) although it was recorded on 26 January and 2 February. The liner notes mention that the show wasn't broadcast on the 30th because of Winston Churchill's funeral (the procession of which inspired the rhythm in Chris White's "Remember You"), so the songs recorded on the 26th were added to those recorded on the 2nd.
In any case, they played "Tell Her No," "What More Can I Do," "I'm Going Home," "For You My Love," "Tell Her No" (acoustic piano version), and "Soulville" - tracks 5-10 on the fourth disc of Zombie Heaven.

I've been learning the bass part to "I'm Going Home." It changes about halfway through, and so far, I know only the first minute.
I wrote out most of the notation for what I know, and I think the first introductory part is in a different time signature than the rest of the song. It seems like it's in 3/4 and the rest is 4/4.
I'm still not very good at that aspect of music though, so I could be wrong about it.

The isolated guitar part of this sounds even weirder than the isolated guitar part of "Sticks and Stones." The opening notes are meant to be played on bass, but I included them anyway.
I'm not sure if I have one of the riffs right either….
Apparently, this is a cover of a song by Gene Vincent (written by Bob Bain), but unfortunately I do not have a version by Gene Vincent, even though I do have his first two albums.
